What’s hot in RIBS right now?
Since the 1880s when Zodiac pioneered the Rigid Inflatable Boat, (RIB), for use by the military, brands worldwide have evolved the original concept to embrace technology, design, materials and engine innovation to create high-performance, luxurious modern RIBS for work and play.
RIBS are rising in popularity among superyacht owners and the charter market for their ease of operation, stability, durability, their ability to enter shallow waters and even beach, as well as their built-in fenders in the form of their rugged tubes, which can also be used as additional seating – great when diving or fishing.

Zodiac is still a leading force in RIBS, represented by 1,600 dealers worldwide and having sold more than 1 million boats since the 1960s. Zodiac offers 38 models over three lines, plus the new eOPEN 100 percent electric models.
The Pro range is fully customisable and can be equipped for fishing, scuba or free divers, watersports or support vessel, while the Open line is described as “the multi-activity range” from 3.1 to 6.5-metres. The Medline range is Zodiac’s best seller, ideal for a day on the water with family and friends, with their versatile spaces, table seating and wide benches. There are five Medline models from 5 to 9-metres to suit cruising or towed watersports such as skiing, wakeboarding and inflatables.

Made in Greece and tested on the vast expanses of the Mediterranean, Technohull launched in 2005 and has since become a popular brand among superyacht owners and charter vessels. Their high-performance luxury RIBS are designed with the brand’s patented “Dynastream” hull design technology, aiming for “flawless performance, unbeatable sea keeping, and ultimate comfort”.
From 38 to 47-feet, the Technohull range comprises four head-turning models covering luxury, day boat and sports, all of which can be customised to suit a mothership’s livery or owner’s requirements. When it comes to pace, the 10.3-metre Technohull Sea DNA 999 claims a top speed of 81 knots, meaning owners can motor from Athens to Mykonos in under two hours!

Tecnorib/Pirelli collaborate on a range of high-performance RIBS from 3 to 19 metres, built in Italy and featuring speed-boat inspired attributes for a thrilling and safe ride. The Pirelli 35 has everything a discerning owner could wish for, from the sunpads at the bow, sleek handrails, undercover helm with kitchenette, social cockpit with seating and lounges, extendable sundeck and below decks, a double bed, bathroom and plenty of storage space.
Made in Ukraine, BRIG RIBS were forced to close during first six months of Russian hostilities because of the danger to their staff and facilities. Since mid-2023, despite the continuing war, they have been back in production and already exporting their premium quality RIBS to the world. Renowned for their innovation and constant R&D, BRIG boats are built using precision engineering and military aeronautics.

There are three ranges: Eagle, Navigator and Falcon, with various models from 3-metres up to the 10-metre flagship, which boasts twin engines for a 50 knot ride, and all the mod-cons, including a kitchenette with oven, sink and fridge, a shower on the swim platform, and a well-appointed cabin with double bed and toilet.
From the world’s largest manufacturer of aluminium RIB tenders, Highfield Boats are prized by adventurers and active owners globally. Highfield’s hulls are dry-riding, seaworthy and durable, and the brand is the supplier of choice for high-end shipyards including Fountaine Pajot, Outremer, Leopard, as well as the choice of major sailing and on-water events such as the Invictus Games, Extreme Sailing Series and Vendée Globe.

The Highfield range comprises Classic, Sport and Patrol, as well as an Ultralite, Rollup and E-Jet 330 with ZeroJet drive.
From the UK, Williams Jet Tenders are renowned for their speed and for being compact additions to a superyacht’s arsenal of watertoys and tenders. The 5.65-metre Williams DieselJet 565 can scoot at an impressive 39 knots and is able to tow skiers and tubers, making her a versatile piece of kit.
